They say behind every successful man is a great woman and the hero of India's World Cup win against South Africa - Shikhar Dhawan - is a living example of that.

When Dhawan delivers, more often than not India end up winning, like was the case in the 2013 Champions Trophy.

Cricket experts were baying for Dhawan's blood as the opener has had a miserable time in Australia before the World Cup.

Same was the case before he met his wife Ayesha Mukherjee.

Dhawan had the talent but the mental toughness required to make it to the big league was missing.

He credits his Aussie wife for turning his career around when he was down in the dumps.

And guess how he met his wife - through Facebook.

According to a Guardian article Dhawan found Ayesha Mukherjee, of British-Indian origin, on teammate Harbhajan Singh's Facebook friends' list.

On an impulse he sent her a friend request.

By late 2009 they were engaged and got married in 2012.

Ayesha is based out of Melbourne and is a trained kick boxer. She is quite a sports enthusiast herself.

It seems Ayesha boxed the unwanted baggage out of Dhawan's game and straightened him up.

His big-ticket game performance is what the team as well as the fans expect of him.

And it's especially delightful that he put on this great show in the home town of his Aussie wife.

Dhawan's wife is 10 years elder to him and has two girls from a previous marriage. The couple now has a baby boy, Zoravar Dhawan.

Dhawan and his wife Ayesha share a deep passion for tattoos, although he has more tattoos than she does. The cricketer also has the name of his wife tattooed on his wrist.

Statutory warning - don't befriend strangers on Facebook!
