President Rodrigo Duterte earlier said that he has a transcript of the call made by Filipino-American millionaire Loida Nicolas Lewis in relation to the International Criminal Court (ICC) preliminary examination, and that he will release it.
He said that he knew that Lewis was involved.
“Bakit ko alam si Loida Reyes? Na-tap rin siya. Kaya sabi ko, ‘look, I have a copy of your conversation. It was not given to me by America but by somebody else, by some countries.’ Eh lalabas ito,” he said.
“I’ll have it published. It was an article written by a German newspaper. Hindi ko ma-pronounce ‘yung ano nila, pati ano. Eh na-tap siya,” he added.
Duterte also claimed that he had information that the ICC chief prosecutor Fatou Bensouda talked to reporters because her phone was tapped and that he has a copy of it.
The president has also accused Lewis of teaming up with some officials of the ICC who were to investigate the president over alleged human rights violations that had happened while conducting his war on drugs.
Lewis has spoken regarding the issue and denied any involvement and foulplay.
“There is absolutely no truth to the story given to you by "another country", that I was in any way involved in the International Criminal Court's (ICC) decision to investigate the Extra Judicial Killings in the Philippines,” Lewis said.
"Any supposed transcript of a recent phone conversation is bogus," she added.
