Many couples are in a dilemma on how to get an annulment from the Church. Not only can the process be very complicated, it can also cost a lot of money.
Pope Francis announced in a letter that annulments will be simplified and will be free of charge. This process will no longer go through two tribunals that will make the decision faster. This decision is welcomed by Church officials as well as Catholics who have long been separated and are currently living with somebody else.
Catholics who remarried are considered “living in sin” if their previous marriage has not yet been annulled by the Church.
