Home Remedies To Treat Ingrown Toenails

Ingrown nails can cause discomfort and pain in some more severe cases. Those appear mostly on the feet and are like curvy blades that start to grown into the skin.

They can cause discomfort, pain, infections, fungus, irritations and other issue that can become more serious if not disinfected and treated.

Some of the reasons for this to happen is heredity, improper shoes and foot support, injury and other factors. It is pretty common and although it is nothing so serious to worry about it still should be treated and sometimes that does not come too easy.

Fortunately there are some natural remedies and ingredients that can help you soothe the pain and step by step solve the problem of ingrown nails.

Tea Tree Oil

This oil is very powerful and it is a natural disinfectant. Take a smaller basin and soak your feet into water and add a couple of drops of tea tree oil. This will provide anti-fungal properties too.

Apple Cider Vinegar Wash

All types of vinegar especially the apple cider vinegar can be very good in preventing and treating ingrown nails. Take smaller basin and fill it with water just enough to cover your feet and add ¼ cup of ACV into it. This will make a wonderful and beneficial wash for your feet and prevent infections, relieve the pain and soothe the discomfort. Soak your feet in this wash for about 20 minutes.

Epsom Salt Bath

Epsom salt is really famous when it comes in the combination of water for a warm feet-soak or a general bath. You can use it in both forms since Epsom salt can soften the nails making it easier to cut them and soothe irritations and most importantly disinfect the afflicted area from any harmful bacteria.

Cotton Ball Or Floss

You can relieve some of the pain by lifting the toe nail carefully with floss or a tweezer and apply a cotton ball under it. Make sure you are gently and not to stress the nail.

Antibiotic Ointment

The feet are very prone to germs and get in contact with them very often and that is why it is important to take care of them and clean the often. You can keep the toe nails and toes in general sterile by using some antibiotic ointment that can soothe the pain and keep you nails clean and less prone to more infections.
