How to Detect Fake Honey (It’s Everywhere) – Just Use This Simple Trick

One of the healthiest foods out there has to be the honey. It is made naturally by the hard work of bees. The honey offers many benefits and it can help with treating different illnesses and conditions. However, there are a lot of honey types out there that are fake. They say that it is organic and it has a very low price, but in fact, it is very fake honey.

There was a study recently by Food Safety News which claimed that over 76% of all the honey that was sold in the markets was a subject to ultrafiltration.

This process removes impurities like wax traces and pollen. A lot of manufacturers say that they need the process to extend the shelf life of the product and to prevent crystallization. Moreover, it removes the pollen which offers many health benefits.

Furthermore, researchers discovered that this process aims to hide the geographical origin of the honey. For instance, in China, the manufacturers contaminated the honey with illegal antibiotics and metals in the filtration process so that they can import it.

Thus, you need to avoid the fake honey in case it has pollen contamination. It is very important to trace and analyze the origin of the honey.

How to Notice Fake Honey If the honey is fake, it will not crystallize with time. The pure one does. Before you buy honey, you need to check the labels and see if it says if the honey contains high fructose corn syrup or commercial glucose. If it does, do not buy it.

Add a couple of drops of iodine to a glass of water and add a bit of honey. If the honey turns blue, it means that it was mixed with cornstarch.

Add a couple of drops of vinegar to a glass of water and add some honey. If it foams, it has been adulterated with plaster.

Burn the honey with a match or phosphorus, if it ignites, it is pure.

Add a spoon of honey to a glass of water, if it dissolves, it is fake or of low quality.
