HISTORICAL PHOTOS FROM POINTS OF VIEW YOU’VE NEVER SEEN BEFORE

While a photo can be worth a thousand words, historical photos are worth so much more than that. A good historical photo can throw us into a different time, enabling us to empathize with a particular moment that is otherwise hard to imagine. Many of these occurred before many readers were even alive.

Here are some favorites worth reflecting on. All of the photos are real, no shopping or editing whatsoever:

Construction of the Golden Gate Bridge, 1934

Air hostess and steward serving Scandinavian Country Style Buffet, SAS Scandinavian Airlines, 1969

A Ukrainian-American family celebrates the death of Stalin, 1953

A Forgotten Age of Open-air Schools in the Netherlands, 1957

Women protesting forced Hijab days after the revolution, Iran, 1979

German prisoners of war in American camps are shown footage of German concentration camps, 1945
