Get Rid Of Phlegm And Mucus In Chest & Throat


Sinus congestion affects breathing and causes discomfort. The blockage is often caused by phlegm buildups. Phlegm is the substance secreted by mucous membranes.

Nasal passages and the throat can be blocked by excessive secretion of phlegm due to colds, flu, sinusitis, viral/bacterial infections, asthma, hay fever, damaged vocal cords, etc.
It is often accompanied with fever, weakness, a runny nose, constant cough and difficult breathing. If it is not treated, it can cause secondary upper respiratory infections.

Honey & Lemon
Honey has powerful antibacterial, antiviral and anti fungal properties. It soothes irritations and offers an instant relief. Lemon is rich in vitamin C. It boosts the immune system and relieves congestion. To eliminate phlegm mix 2 tablespoons of lemon juice and 1 tablespoon of honey. Take this soothing remedy three times a day.

Ginger
Ginger is an excellent decongestant and antihistamine. It has strong antiviral, antibacterial and expectorant properties. Ginger dries out mucus and thus soothes congestion.
Eat 3-4 raw ginger slices every day. Ginger tea is also an option. Drink it several times a day.

Ginger Infusion

Ingredients:
6-7 ginger slices1 tsp. of honey1 tsp. of black peppercorns2 cups of water

Preparation:
Add the ginger and peppercorns when the water starts boiling. Cover the pot, leave it to boil for a minute, then turn the heat on low. Simmer for additional 5-7 minutes until it gets a nice yellow shade. Let it cool to room temperature, and add in the honey. Drink this ginger infusion 2-3 times a day.

Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar balances pH values and prevents the secretion of excess mucus.
Add a tablespoon of raw honey and a tablespoon of Apple cider vinegar to a glass of water. Drink this soothing liquid to remove phlegm buildups. You can also gargle the solution.

Turmeric
Curcumin is an active compound in turmeric. It kills bacteria, and prevents infections.

Ingredients:
1 tsp. of turmeric½ tsp. of salt1 glass of warm water

Preparation:
Stir a tablespoon of turmeric into a glass of warm water. Add in the salt and stir again. Gargle the solution 3-4 times a day to loosen phlegm buildups.
This solution soothes your throat and destroys bacteria.

Steaming
Steam treatments loosen up phlegm buildups and offer an instant relief. For an optimal effect, add herbs to the water.

Ingredients:
4-5 cups of hot water½ tsp. of rosemary½tsp. of thyme

Preparation:
Add the herbs in the hot water, lean over, cover your head with a towel and inhale. Do this 3-4 times a day.
