Intermittent Fasting – 9 Great Benefits

Intermittent Fasting… Are There Any Benefits?

You Bet There Are!

Let’s take a look at just some of the benefits of Intermittent Fasting so that you can see if it is right for you.

1. Weight loss

An obvious benefit and why so many people choose to do it, is weight loss. Intermittent fasting is a great way to drop pounds and very quickly.
During your eating window you can still eat like you usually would but you will lose weight due to the fact you are not eating for a large potion of the day.
If you have tried many other diets that haven’t been right for you, why not give fasting a try?

2. Self control

This way of eating will help you to control cravings which can assist you greatly during your lifetime. Usually when you are hungry you would simply reach for food but having set eating hours means that you cannot do this and will learn improved self discipline.

3. Cleansing The Body

Intermittent fasting is like a detox for your body and it helps to get rid of body waste including damaged cells. You will also find a significant improvement in the appearance of your skin.

4.  Eat Anything You Like

My philosophy about the kind of foods to eat is pretty simple;  Eat “anything” you like,  just don’t eat “everything” you like.  Can you hear the TI song in your head – “You can have whatever you like, hey… you can have whatever you like”.
Now a note about this – you don’t want to use this as an excuse to go off half-cocked and slam down a bunch of junk food.    But just an option to allow yourself the freedom to eat stuff you enjoy.  For the most part, you still want to keep the nutritional value high most of the time.
For example,  I have a sweet tooth, so once a day, usually after my last meal, I’ll reward myself with  dessert.   Usually a few cookies or a small portion of ice cream.  With this mindset, I’ve disciplined myself through fasting a few hours and my food choices for the majority of the day.  I then reward myself with something sweet.  It works wonders for me.  And because I never really feel deprived – it makes clean eating not only easy but enjoyable.
I don’t feel like I’m on a diet because I’m really not on one.

5. Improved brain function

It has been proven that it can help nerves in the brain which can improve overall function of the brain. It can also reduce your risk of Alzheimer’s and other disorders.

6. Combats stress

If you suffer from stress/anxiety then intermittent fasting could be right for you. MULTIPLE studies have shown that it strengthens the protective chemicals in the body which can help stress, anxiety and even minor depression.

7. Eliminate cancer

Multiple studies have shown that intermittent fasting can reduce your chance of developing cancer. It can also help survival rates which is pretty extraordinary.

8. Build lean muscle

Usually when dieting you might lose muscle which will result in a “soft” look to your body and could also slow down your metabolism. During this fasting strategy however, you will be keeping lean muscle which will help you burn calories quicker and will also help you look more toned.

9. Fight obesity and its deadly consequences

The benefits that come with losing weight in general are enormous. Obesity kills so many people on a daily basis and you will be slashing your chances of diabetes, heart attack, stroke and other deadly diseases.

BONUS

Did you know that celebrities like Beyonce’, Liv Tyler and Huge Jackman and others all use Intermittent Fasting to get in shape and stay in shape.

Conclusion
For guaranteed weight loss plus an array of health benefits, intermittent fasting is definitely something that you should consider to reach your goals. Intermittent fasting does not restrict WHAT you can eat, simply when you can eat. As long as you are fairly balanced in your food choices and do not eat more than what you need, you will see big results.
